Making films is my calling, and I bring empathy, curiosity and humour together with high journalistic standards, to create my own distinctive filmmaking style.
I worked for 17 years at the Guardian, founding its video team, making hundreds of films and winning multiple awards and nominations – but it’s really about the people and the stories.
I have found those in every corner of Britain, through work such as the pioneering Anywhere But Westminster series, which has led the way in understanding the political turmoil of the 20th century, winning the Orwell prize and a BAFTA nomination.
I have brought the same unique approach to reporting from around the world, specialising in migration and the rise of populism.
My work is also driven by a deep commitment to collaboration, working closely with communities to listen, share skills, empower them in their own storytelling and create films that are both authentic and powerful.
I am now working freelance as a producer-director, editor and trainer, and enjoying sharing my passion for filmmaking with new people and places.
